2023 Tournament of Champions in Kentucky ~!!!
Hello Kudos Family! We are happy to share our results from our final tournament of the year, the Middle School Tournament of Champions held in Lexington, Kentucky.
Over the weekend of April 29th & 30th, Kudos traveled across the country to participate (In Person!) in one of the most competitive Middle School debate tournaments in the country, next to tournaments like Stanford and NSDA Nationals. For many, this was their first in person tournament, and represents a bright future for Kudos in the coming years!
Everyone worked very hard to bring themselves to this point and showed great dedication throughout the tournament to improve our skills and enjoy our time debating.
Congratulations to the follow debaters: In Congress, Kudos placed 5 out of the 15 places in the Final Chamber.
John Dong placed 14th, Michelle Pan placed 12th, Zoey Luc placed 10th, Edwin Jiao placed 9th, and Audrey Huang placed 3rd!!
The combination of Audrey, Zoey, John, Edwin, and Michelle led Kudos to have ONE THIRD OF THE FINAL ROUND. This is the third straight year that Kudos has had the most congress finalists at MSTOC, and the second straight year that Kudos has had the most middle schoolers advancing to the elimination rounds. We’re so proud of everyone.
For Lincoln-Douglas debate, Michelle Zhang received 9th place overall Speaker award and advanced through octo finals into the quarter finals (top 8)!
The trip went very smoothly and everyone got along very well. Thank you to all students and parents on behalf of the Kudos Coaches for making this trip so great. Keep up the hard work!
